SIBO is addressed in my protocol. It is definitely part of the problem in some who suffer, but may not be the only issue. My protocol addresses all the issues that may be involved.

Digestive enzymes are a part of my protocol, but their use is not usually the only thing necessary to eliminate your symptoms. For some it might be, for most, it's not.

What do you think about small intestine bacterial overgrowth? I got IBS after severe food poisoning 12 years ago and suspect that's what I have.

I am convinced that the body lacking in natural enzymes to properly break down thus properly digesting the food we consume is the main cause of IBS, in fact its a no-brainer!! Sure....the Levbid the doctor prescribed me DID slow down the spasming in my colon making me more comfortable when I ate but its just a BAND-AID for the problem, doctors arent suggesting natural enzymes to thier patients I think because you can freely purchase them almost anywhere without a prescription and without him!!!

Real MD doctors aren't doing much for anyone on that subject. Their inability makes careers for docs like me. You don't need an MD degree to understand natural medicine and use it properly. Read my free report and then tell me where I'm wrong instead of attacking my education. Trying to diminish me doesn't prove your point.

Ulcerative colitis for 30 years - death is the only cure. Save your money this guy is not a real MD doctor. Ulcerative colitis is a living hell. And when you are in hell just keep moving and never give up.

Sorry guys there is no cure for IBS,,I have IBS too..we only get rid of IBS when we die..I have accepted this ...

Correct comments above on the mind gut elements. My IBS was exacerbated recently after a family member became seriously ill. While IBS is not caused by stress, it can be made worse by it, and stress reduction, diet modification, deep breathing, meditation as well as herbal solutions (peppermint/ginger) etc. may benefit some patients

But I thought that serotonin is produced by the brain!? Of course you're right that SSRIs or any other type of antidepressants have serious side-effects, I take your point, noone is advised to take them forever, esp if they are not depressed, just have IBS.Another question if I may, you suggest the elimination of all dairy products, what would you say to me, who suffers from IBS constipation that milk, especially in the morning actually helps things get moving?!
drdahlman (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
65% of all the serotonin in the body is produced in the GI tract. Conventional medicine's treatment using SSRI's for IBS patients helps some...but they are stuck on SSRI's forever...there are side effects to that. Chicken or the Egg? Did the serotonin levels go out of whack first and then cause symptoms of IBS or did the improper bacterial levels occur...changing chemistry...that then impaired the production of serotonin? |
